Traveling Companions
Description of the Agency
ETC is a non-profit,
volunteer based organization that provides wilderness and environmental
education experiences for people of all abilities, including people with
special needs. The organization's primary goal is to provide access to the
wilderness to people of all abilities and to promote self-esteem,
self-sufficiency, and a greater appreciation for the environment. Description of PositionField
interns will assist and/or guide whitewater rafting trips and outdoor
activities and games, aid in logistical planning, coordination of volunteers,
program development, maintenance of the site and repair of equipment. Our site is on the South Fork of the
American River twenty minutes north of Placerville, California. All field
interns live at our American River camp in cozy open air outdoor shelters
which are provided.
Training
á
Training will begin
with a pre-trip meeting held on
March 12th in San Francisco, Fort Mason Center, Room TBA.

River Guide Training
Dates will be held the evening of Friday March 21st through March 30th .

A mandatory Disability
Awareness Training will be held May 17th – 18th at our American River camp grounds.
Availability: Summer, June-August/September 2008.
Compensation: Disability Awareness Training, Swift Water Rescue
training, Room and Board plus a small stipend ($400/ month).
