Environmental Traveling Companions (ETC) is thrilled to post

3 winter internship openings for our 2008 adaptive cross-country ski season!

 

Who we are:

ETC is a non-profit organization that provides accessible outdoor adventures for people with special needs. Our clients range from individuals and groups who are deaf, blind or visually impaired, physically or developmentally disabled, to underprivileged youth and every population in between.  For 35 years ETC has pioneered accessible cross-country skiing, white water rafting, and sea kayaking trips for people of all abilities. ETC has earned a reputation for high quality, fun and safe trips due to the endless time, energy and love all of our awesome guides generously donate. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of the outdoors.

 

About our internship:

Interns will be based out of and lead accessible cross-country ski trips for people with special needs in Northern CaliforniaÕs Sierra Mountains. Interns are responsible for leading and facilitating a wide variety of winter activities, planning and managing trip logistics, site and equipment maintenance, successfully working and living in a team environment, interacting with diverse populations, and generally creating and sharing in an incredible winter experience! Training is provided and is mandatory regardless of previous experience.

 

Dates:

v    Applications and interviews are ongoing

v    Internship begins January 1st thru April 2008

 

Qualifications:

v    Wilderness First Aid and CPR (or higher)

v    Strong leadership and communication skills

v    Ability to creatively problem solve and work effectively as a team

v    Ability to take initiative, be flexible, and work independently

v    Basic Nordic ski experience preferred

v    Wilderness and environmental education experience preferred

v    Experience working with youth & people with special needs preferred
