SEA KAYAKING PROGRAM
|
Join Environmental Traveling Companions on a thrilling sea kayak adventure. No experience is necessary for these exciting paddles on San Francisco Bay and beyond. |
We paddle stable, two or three-person kayaks, and can adapt the itineraries to meet your specific needs. We offer trips tailored specifically for groups and individuals with disabilities, youth and school groups, corporate outings, as well as for families and friends. We offer scholarships and special rates for agencies
providing services for people with special needs. Individuals with
special needs can choose to sign up for special individual trips
and discover the freedom of paddling on the Bay and beyond.
Sea Kayaking Adventures
ANGEL ISLAND OVERNIGHTS ($100)
The "Jewel of the Bay" is our destination for these overnight kayaking expeditions—an ETC favorite for special needs groups. In true expedition style, we carry most of our gear in our kayaks for the open water crossing to Angel Island. If necessary, wheelchairs and other large items are transported by ferry and await the paddlers on the beach when they arrive. We stay in an accessible Victorian House, full of history and charm, where we cook on a wood burning stove and eat family style meals in the formal dining room. At night stunning views and stories round out this true adventure in our own backyard.
SAUSALITO SCENIC TOURS ($50)
A great introduction to sea kayaking. Call about Summer dates for 2009.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY PADDLES
You'll discover sea lions, pelicans, local lore
and laughter as we explore the Sausalito waterfront and the shoreline
of Richardson Bay. After a picnic lunch along the shore we paddle
home through Sausalito's unique houseboat
community.
FULL MOON DINNER PADDLES
Schedule a private trip for a group of eight
or more. Launch from Sausalito
in late afternoon for a sunset paddle to Sam's Anchor Cafe in Tiburon
and enjoy a sumptuous meal with your group as the full moon rises
over Angel Island. When dinner is done, we launch our boats again
for a magical paddle home under the light of the full moon. Our
experienced guides will lead you safely through the darkness for
unforgettable views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco
skyline. Proceeds from these trips support our special needs programs.
CUSTOM PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS
Take your students beyond the classroom. ETC
offers field trips for school groups that provide customized curricula
in marine ecology, natural history, leadership skills, and disability
awareness. Programs for students can be structured from 1-5 days
and can be scheduled on Angel Island or Tomales Bay.
