Nigel Bates

Winter Program Manager

With a background in biology and a passion for the environment and outdoor adventure, Nigel was born in Nashville and then moved around a lot in the U.S., as a military kid, before attending Williams College in Massachusetts. During college he volunteered for the Special Olympics in New Jersey. After graduating Nigel headed out to California to work for the Mono Lake Committee where he led bird walks; compiled, reported, and analyzed sightings data, as well as organized volunteer invasive plant removal campaigns and did blog writing. His favorite part of working with ETC is “sharing in the awe that people feel when they stand under the giant sequoias for the first time.” He is thrilled to be the Winter Program Manager for ETC leading trips to Bear Valley and feels lucky to be able to put all his interests and skills to work for a good cause!
